Troubleshooting
Problem | Cause | Solution |

Record LED speaker I and II illuminate orange. | The device hasn’t received a license for operation. | Contact your administrator, Philips SmartMike vendor or integration partner. |
The device doesn’t respond. | There is a problem with the software. | Unplug the device from the computer to restart it, additionally restart the dictation software. |
The device doesn’t play back recordings. | The volume is off or too low. | Turn on or turn up the volume. |
I can hear both speakers in one channel. | Microphone position is not correct. | Change the position of yourSmartMike relative to the two speakers. You can find more information regarding the optimal recording position in the How to position your SmartMike section. |
The device is connected to the computer but sound will play on the computer’s speaker only. | SmartMike is not selected as the default playback device. | In the sound settings of your computer, select SmartMike as the default playback device. |
The recording quality is poor. | The distance between your mouth and the built-in microphone is too short or too large. | Try to keep to keep the right distance between your mouth and the microphone while recording. Find more information in the How to position your SmartMike section. |
LED colors and meanings
The LEDs on your SmartMike indicate the current status of the device. Use the following table to learn more about the different LED states:
