In many hospitals, document creation with Philips dictation solutions has a long and successful tradition. But also in the field of physicians’ practices this working method is a real trend. The doctor’s office of Dr. Doris Ulreich-Laussermayer, specialist in gynecology and obstetrics, located in Burgenland, Austria, is an excellent example for this.

During her time as trainee doctor in a hospital, Dr. Doris Ulreich-Laussermayer got to know the method of digital dictation in a real doctor’s working environment. It was used to create medical documents in a professional and fast way. Later, she established an own doctor’s office as a gynecologist in Stegersbach, located in Burgenland, Austria, where she did the typing of documentation herself at first. “This always took too long, not every detail was documented and it felt like I loose way too much time”, Dr. Ulreich-Laussermayer points out.

During her time as trainee doctor in a hospital, Dr. Doris Ulreich-Laussermayer got to know the method of digital dictation in a real doctor’s working environment. It was used to create medical documents in a professional and fast way. Later, she established an own doctor’s office as a gynecologist in Stegersbach, located in Lower Austria, where she did the typing of documentation herself at first. “This always took too long, not every detail was documented and it felt like I loose way too much time”, Dr. Ulreich-Laussermayer points out.

After she switched the way of document creation within her doctor’s office to digital dictation, she experienced a significant increase in efficiency. A pleasant consequence for her patients was the shortened waiting time. She can take care of two to three more patients per workday now, which has also a positive economic aspect. “The process of dictating works fast, easy, straightforward and accurate”, Dr. Ulreich-Laussermayer adds.

Introducing the method of digital dictation in the doctor’s office of Dr. Ulreich-Laussermayer was also beneficial for her physician assistant, Mrs. Monika Bertha: “Since we switched to digital dictation, I have much more insights into the patient documentation which helps me to put the patients in a more accurate context. This is most helpful for the organization of patient appointments.” For transcribing she uses the professional transcription set of Philips, consisting of the workflow software SpeechExec, an ergonomic foot pedal and lightweight stereo headphones.

Dr. Ulreich-Laussermayer uses the smart dictation recorder Philips SpeechAir: “I like the SpeechAir very much because it is a mobile device, the slide switch makes the operation intuitive and I can move around in the whole practice while dictating with it. The Wi-Fi function makes it possible to send supplemental remarks to the PC in the physician’s practice from home or while I am on the go, so my assistant can react immediately. The hygienic surface of the device is a positive side effect that serves for the hygiene in my practice”, the doctor points out.

Philips dictation solutions contribute to sustained improvements within the doctor’s office of Dr. Ulreich-Laussermayer, and lead therefore to an increase in efficiency and patient satisfaction. Please watch the reference video clip to get some audio-visual impressions.
