At the Duluth police headquarters, Minnesota, it was clear: a new dictation system based on the latest state-of-the-art technology was long overdue.

At the start there was fear that some colleagues may object to the technological innovations. Nevertheless, the headquarters turned to Philips to find a suitable digital system for the approx. 150 police employed there. Gayle Holton, officer in the Duluth Police Department recalls: “It is always said that the police fear change, but for our 150 officers the change that brought the new Philips technology was painless and it was definitely worth jumping in at the deep end.”

Meanwhile, the police are now very happy that their interviews no longer have to be recorded on cassettes that need to be flipped over every 30 minutes.

Officer Holton knows exactly what is so impressive about the new system: “We appreciate the modern design, the simplicity, and the new system’s ease of use. The progress was enormous and had a positive effect on all areas of our department.”
