Concentrate on what matters
Dictation technology from Philips helps these engineers focus only on what matters
A keen eye for even the smallest details: That's what the architects and engineers at IFB Ingenieurbüro für Bautechnik GmbH need when they inspect construction sites at home and abroad. All progress and every setback must be professionally documented. Dictation technology from Philips helps these engineers focus solely on what matters. They use the Philips Digital Pocket Memo 9620 – an ultra-modern digital voice recorder that makes their everyday work much easier. The files are then processed using the Philips SpeechExec Pro Transcription Set, a combination of transcription software, foot pedal and headphones. This allows dictation to be replayed in the best quality, and enables clear and transparent management.
Creating transparency is their “job”: Employees at IFB spend much of their time on construction sites – often in rough terrain and at the highest of altitudes. The aim is to capture every important detail from an expert's point of view. “It's great that I don’t have to run around with a thick notebook and pen,” says Wolfgang Gölz, Project Manager and Architect at IFB. Instead, he reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out his innovative digital assistant – the Digital Pocket Memo 9620 from Philips. “This device is extremely user-friendly. The main buttons and the practical sliding switch are arranged so that I can use them without any trouble. It's ideal for easily dictating my observations and then sending them on their way,” added Wolfgang Gölz.
Analog was good, digital is better
This simplified process helps to ensure that the relevant information quickly reaches the intended recipients – and from virtually any location. Even transmission to the document management system at the office is a breeze. This directly benefits those who are often on the road. “You don’t need to stick a cassette into a mailing envelope anymore. Now you can either email the data from where you are, or connect the Digital Pocket Memo to the docking station at the office. The data automatically reaches its intended destination. The PC playback software, SpeechExec Pro, at the Secretary's desktop immediately recognizes when there is a dictated message waiting in the central file on the server. I think that's great.” Wolfgang Gölz installed the software himself. The Secretary, Ms. Teichmann, also finds the dictation management system to be very clear: “You open the program and all of the dictated messages are listed just like the in-box of an email program. They can be retrieved, checked off, and the matter is taken care of.” She also welcomes the crystal clear quality of the audio files. “No more winding, searching for an important part, no more mountain of cassettes marked with Post-Its to identify the contents – the whole process simply runs much more smoothly.” The employees of the IFB agree: Digital dictation makes work much easier.
