You can take the sturdy, easy-to-use dictation device along to every meeting. The experts at Captain Klaus Förster GmbH now consider it as indispensable as their camera, thermometer and measuring tape. The secretaries, who are trained in multilingual correspondence, then review the wording and add any necessary finishing touches.

Working on the go is now easier than ever

The Digital Pocket Memo is the ideal solution for outdoor use and it supports a decentralized approach to work. Indeed, in the marine survey business, most dictations are done on site: on board the ship, in the harbor area or in the car after an appointment. Surveyors take photos, make notes about their observations and record their reports on the Digital Pocket Memo. Back at the office, they use the USB Docking Station to transfer their files to the network. Another option: the surveyors can transfer the data from the Digital Pocket Memo's SD memory card to their laptop and then email the data to their secretary.

"That saves me a lot of time, since I don't have to drive back to the office each time to deliver the information," says Jan Fuisting. A detailed report about an oil spill, for example, may easily be 20–30 pages long. With the Digital Pocket Memo, it's now much easier to organize such data into the right format. Captain Klaus Förster GmbH's surveyors can now handle recordings quickly and easily. Jan Fuisting: "The controls are now much more convenient. Plus, now you can easily insert or delete sections, which was not possible before."

Amazingly easy to use

The secretaries use the Philips SpeechExec Pro Transcription Set LFH7277. The ergonomic Philips foot pedal and the lightweight headphones turn a PC into a sophisticated playback system. Now all the expert surveyors have to do is put their dictations into the "Finished" folder on their PC. From there, the dictation files are automatically transferred to the in-house network, where secretaries can access them directly from their inboxes. However, the daily work routine has not changed significantly; for example, we still use the same system for filing job orders. But thanks to the Job Status indicator and the automatic file management system in SpeechExec Pro, electronic file management is now much easier.
